QUINCY, ILL. -- Still no word on a new superintendent for the Quincy Public School District.

That's the word from Quincy school board president Bill Daniels.

He said the board interviewed candidates this past weekend and Tuesday night for permanent and interim superintendent positions.

Daniels wouldn't elaborate on how many candidates are being interviewed at this time.

In other school board action, the board's curriculum committee gave an update on Adequate Yearly Progress (AYP) goals.

Dewey, Madison and Monroe schools were the only schools that met AYP goals in both reading and math.

Curriculum committee chair Steve Krause says those numbers reflect changes in requirements and not a drop in district achievement.

"We expect because there's more rigor built in that our scores will drop," Krause said. "Doesn't mean we're less effective but it's because they've changed the rules of the game for us."

The board also approved a new bread supplier for the district called Bimbo Bakeries, which is a division of Sara Lee.
