Lovers nabbed in Fort Madison meth bust

A Fort Madison couple is in jail after their arrest Tuesday of felony and misdemeanor drug charges.

Matthew Thomas Shipley, 37, of 2706 Ave. L Fort Madison is charged with possession of less than 5 grams of methamphetamine with intent to deliver second or subsequent offense, maintaining a drug house an aggravated misdemeanor, and possession of paraphernalia a simple misdemeanor. 

If convicted he faces up to 32 years and 30 days in a state correctional facility.

Melissa Dawn Davis, 30, of 4406 Ave. L Fort Madison is charged with possession of paraphernalia a simple misdemeanor. 

If convicted she faces up to 30 days in a state correctional facility.

The arrest stems from an investigation into the distribution of ice methamphetamine in the Fort Madison area. 

Investigators issued a search warrant on Shipley’s home where items associated with methamphetamine distribution were located along with Shipley and Davis.
