More powder-activated carbon being added to treatment process
QUINCY, ILL. -- Some Quincy residents and business are still dealing with odd tasting and smelling water.
Last week, Director of Utilities David Kent told KHQA that the problem is brown algae in the water.
The Quincy Water Department started treating the problem last week by adding powder-activated carbon in the treatment process.
Kent says that there has been a noticeable improvement in the taste and smell of the water coming directly from the treatment plant.
But low water use means that not all the water and mains has been treated.
The Quincy Water Department is adding more powder activated carbon to more locations along the treatment process. But Kent has no idea how long it will take for the system to be fully cleared.
