QUINCY, ILL. -- This is the season for giving and thanks to a surprising sweepstakes win, it's also a season for giving back for one Quincy woman.

Earlier this year, Tayna Redner entered a sweepstakes sponsored by the information security firm LifeLock.

The winner would get a thousand dollars to donate to the charity of their choice.

Thursday morning Joanne Dedert, the interim director of the  Madonna House of Quincy, found out that Tanya had chosen it to receive that money.

Tanya says she has used the Madonna House food pantry to feed her family in the past.

So giving the money to the agency was an easy choice.

"I was elated. I was so happy because, I mean monetarily wise I couldn't do it myself. But since this happened ... I'm just excited. I'm glad that the Madonna House could benefit from it," Redner said.

Joanne Dedert says she is not completely surprised at Tanya's generosity. "To me it just shows, that's the mentality of the Quincy area people," she said. "They come and use services when they need it. And then when things are a bit better, and they have and opportunity, they always come back and give back. Because you know, we never know when it's going to come back that we may need those services again."

Dedert says that once the check arrives, a formal  presentation ceremony will be held where the Madonna House will announce how the money will be used.
