HANNIBAL, MO. -- The sun will set on a new dawn redwood planted Friday at Dulaney Park in Hannibal.

Fourth graders from Holy Family and Eugene Field help plant the tree as part of Arbor Day activities.

Hannibal's Tree Board President Ed Tamerius showed the children the proper way to plant and care for a tree. The children helped shovel and mulch as they got a lesson on the importance of trees to our environment.

Hannibal has been named a Tree City USA every year since 2000.  The Tree Board has helped plant more than 250 trees in Hannibal since the group started in 1998.
