PERRY, MO. -- Firefighters were called to Miss Daisy's Antiques on Main Street in Perry, Mo. at 6:50 a.m. Monday.

The 9-1-1 call came in when an employee of the adjoining post office building noticed smoke.

When firefighters first arrived on the scene, they saw smoke coming from the downtown area and there was concern about the location of the fire and the and the possibility of it spreading quickly through the downtown buildings.

The building suffered major smoke and water damage.

According to Perry Fire Chief Thomas Ragland, the fire originated in the basement of Miss Daisy's in an electrical box, however, investigators are waiting for the Missouri State Fire Marshal to come in.

Ragland confirmed no one was hurt. A couple lives upstairs, but they were not in town at the time of the fire.

The State Fire Marshal investigates every time there is a fire inside a residence.

KHQA will bring you more information when it becomes available.
