FORT MADISON, IOWA -- A Fort Madison prison guard shown kicking an inmate is contesting his dismissal.
In this video, obtained by The Des Moines Register you can see Michael Scott of Montrose, taking an inmate to his cell at the Iowa State Penitentiary in Fort Madison and then kicking the prisoner.
He was fired in December for using excessive force.
The incident came to light on the heels of an assault on a prison guard last week as well as ongoing debates between the union and state officials over low staffing levels in Iowa prisons.
