Sammy Fund honors life of Samantha Otte
QUINCY, IL -- Hundreds of runners and walkers from across the country took to Quincy's streets early Saturday morning, all for a good cause.
Samantha Otte died at the age of 10 after a liver transplant for her Cystic Fibrosis. The Fund raises money in her honor. It supports youth activities in the community. It gives opportunities to kids who might not have available resources.
Thousands of area children have benefited from the Sammy Fund. And that's one of the reasons why one Quincy native keeps coming back.
"Sam was a wonderful yound lady and she was filled with great spirit. She was a very happy little girl, and we all loved her. We come here to remember her and to make sure her memory continues for years to come," said supporter Toby Peters.
In addition to the Run/Walk, there was a four person golf scramble, and a silent auction and dinner.
