Suspect arrested

HANNIBAL, MO. -- A Quincy man is in jail in Hannibal after a robbery at a credit union led to a high speed chase.

Shortly after eleven o'clock Wednesday morning, police got a call of a carjacking on Hannibal's west side.

Three minutes later, police got a call of the robbery at United Community Credit Union on Lindsey Road.

While on his way to the robbery, an officer spotted the car in question and tried to stop it.

The driver sped up, which lead to a high speed chase through a residential neighborhood.

That lead to lockdown at Veteran's Elementary School.

The driver eventually drove through some yards and came to a dead end of a cul-de-sac, where he drove over a curb and into a wooded area.

The suspect then left the car and disappeared.

Officers found him a few minutes later inside one of the homes.

The suspect's name has not been released.

All the police would tell us is he's 29 years old.

Police did recover a large amount of money and a weapon they believed was used in the crime.
