Flights from Quincy to St. Louis are getting more timely and reliable. That's the news from Baldwin Field's Airport Director Marty Stegeman.
You'll remember we told you earlier this year how flights from Quincy to St. Louis via Great Lakes Airlines were seeing quite a few delays and cancellations. Now that seems to be changing.
Stegeman told KHQA out of 118 flights in September, only 4 were canceled due to not enough passengers.
He says delays have improved as well, delayed planes were only seven minutes late at the most.
Stegeman says the improvements are due to Great Lakes acquiring more planes and catering more to the St. Louis Lambert Airport schedule.
Now with improvements to the service, the airport needs the community's help.
Quincy Regional Airport Director Marty Stegeman said, "We're averaging about 165 to 170 passengers a month. That's far below where we need to be. We're trying to improve service. I think it's very important that if we want to have a solid service that we need to increase our enplanement."
Mayor John Spring said, "We're fortunate to have 4 flights to and from St. Louis and we're keeping our fingers crossed that we can keep our service."
By the way, officials say the improvements are also due to working the bugs out of the service. Great Lakes Airlines began service in Quincy a year ago next week.
