Highland High School students honor vets

MONTICELLO, MO -- A handful of residents in Lewis County took a few minutes from their day to honor veterans and those still serving our country.

But this ceremony wasn't put together by veterans, it was put together by the Highland High School History Club. The club has been holding this event for 16 years. History club president Misty Todd says young people can learn a lot from veterans, and it's important to recognize what they've done.

"It's so important to appreciate those who've given us a chance to live the way we do. As the enrollment for services have declined slightly, it's important to remember those who have given us what we have," Todd said.

The ceremony recognized soldiers from Lewis County who served in World Wars one and two, the Korean War, and Vietnam.
