CLARKSVILLE, MO. -- A Holcim spokesperson says a new state-of-the-art cement plant going up in Saint Genevieve, Missouri has nothing to do with a plant closing in Clarksville.
You'll recall we told you Wednesday Holcim will close that plant the beginning of the year.
A spokesperson told us lack of demand for cement forced the Clarksville plant to close in addition to another plant closing in Michigan.
After hearing rumors from viewers, we asked the spokesperson if the company had planned those two closings all along in anticipation of opening the new Saint Genevieve plant.
Nancy Tully told KHQA's Rajah Maples that is not the case and that the Saint Genevieve plant has been in the works for the past 10 years.
Tully added that the current economy and lack of demand for cement are the real reasons behind the closings.
The Saint Genevieve plant is expected to open next summer.
