KEOKUK -- The city of Keokuk is getting in the Christmas giving spirit a little early.

The city of Keokuk, along with the Rotary International Club handed over the title to this old fire truck this afternoon to help a 3rd world country. The city and the rotary club partner with FAMSCO, the Fire and Medical Supply Company.

Hospital, ambulance and fire supplies that are no longer under code in the U.S. are shipped to countries in need.

"There's such a need in these countries, they have nothing for medical, to fight fires. They're sill doing the bucket brigade in these 3rd world countries," said Mary Ellen Pfeifer with the Rotary International Club.

Pfeifer says the rotary club in Keokuk partners with a rotary club overseas for placement of donated items. The 1977 pump truck may be sent to Guatemala or another country in need in Central America.
