KEOKUK -- If you live in the Keokuk area, you may have heard rumors about a serial rapist going around preying on woman. We've received several calls and emails about those rumors. So we checked in with Keokuk's police chief to set the record straight.  We discovered that what you've been hearing is inaccurate.

"There was something on a local blog site in reference to someone making an allegation that several women had been sexually assaulted within our community, and the police were doing nothing about it. There is absolutely no validity to that.," said Chief Crew.

Chief Crew told us he's confident that a serial rapist is not on the loose....and that the comment that appeared on a local blog has been removed.  However, he added that rape cases are very serious, and that his officers will investigate them to the fullest extent.

Crew encourages anyone who's been a victim of this type of crime to report it to police immediately.
