Suspect may have been drinking when threatened to harm woman and child

QUINCY, IL -- A Quincy man is behind bars after police responded to a report of an intoxicated man with a shotgun.

31 year old Stephen Sheppard Jr.allegedly threatened to use a gun on an adult female and seven year old child at 4102 Halfpap Lane in Quincy.

When Adams County Sheriff Deputies arrived at the home, Sheppard was sitting on his porch without the gun, after hiding it at a neighbors house.

Deputies tried to arrest Sheppard, but he tried to resist. Sheppard is charged with reckless discharge of a firearm, unlawful use of a weapon, domestic violence, and resisting arrest.
