Work is underway to rebuild the levees broken during this year's flooding.

Right now the Army Corps of Engineers and area contractors are dredging sand from the river and reconstructing the levee here at the levee breaks near Lock and Dam 20 and North of the Ferry landing.

That land extension of the dam will have to be removed in order to reconstruct the levee through this area.

Officials with the Army Corps of Engineers tell KHQA it will not compromise the integrity of the dam.

Levee repairs to both the Lima Lake and South Indian Graves Districts should be completed by the end of the year.
