QUINCY, ILL. -- The Quincy Public School District is considering re-locating its Board and Renewal offices at 1444 Maine Street.
The new location would be the 14th Street building next door, a portion of which is currently housed by the Early Childhood Program.
Other possible changes include combining both Early Childhood Programs at the Early Childhood Center, located on 8th and Kentucky.
The District would then have the ability to sell the property at 1444 Maine Street.
We spoke with Superintendent Lonny Lemon about the reasons behind that possibility Monday night.
Lemon said, "The architecture in Quincy is so very important to me as I remodeled 3 houses myself. Right now, it's our role to educate kids. We just can't keep that grand old dame of a building in the shape it deserves, so I think it's a combination of a lot of things."
Lemon emphasizes this is only the planning stages.
He hopes to bring the plans and a possible recommendation to the Board during its December meeting.
