QUINCY, ILL. -- Quincy Mayor John Spring wants another term in office.

He officially announced his candidacy for re-election Wednesday.

KHQA's Rajah Maples sat down with him Wednesday afternoon to talk with him about his plans.

Mayor Spring told us he wants to see Amtrak service expand to St. Louis; a 4-lane expansion of Gardner Expressway to Illinois Highway 72; and the area's hydroelectric project continue to move forward.

The mayor says he's proud of what he's been able to accomplish so far.

Spring said, "There's a lot to do, and I work at this each and everyday. I enjoy my work and don't mind putting in the extra hours that are necessary. Being mayor is a 24/7 job."

Mayor Spring was elected in 2005 after serving for years in development at Quincy Notre Dame.
