CEDAR RAPIDS, IOWA (AP) -- Two men have been sentenced to prison on charges related to an Internet pharmacy business.

The U.S. Attorney's Office says Alexis Avello of Coral Gables, Fla., and Peter Colon Lopez, formerly of Puerto Rico, were sentenced Nov. 25 in U.S. District Court in Cedar Rapids. The charges involved an Internet pharmacy run by Miami-based Parmacom International Corp.

The 54-year-old Lopez was sentenced to nearly two years in prison after pleading guilty to one count of conspiring to illegally distribute prescription medications and one count of laundering the money. The 42-year-old Avello was sentenced to three years imprisonment after pleading guilty to filing a false tax return.

The case also involved two Dubuque pharmacists.
