HANNIBAL -- Christmas came early for the Hannibal Arts Council.

It found out Friday morning it's getting $87 thousand, five hundred dollars in tax incentives as part of the Dream Initiative.

What that means is if someone donates to the Arts Council, they get their normal tax exemption for donating to a not for profit.

Now, the council can give an extra incentive meaning you can claim more on your tax return.

That should help the council buy this building on south main street so it can move the council into the downtown area.

"It allows us as a nonprofit to leverage additional dollars by giving that benefit. It's good. It's a win win for everyone," says Michael Gaines with the Arts Council.
