Theme decorated trees are a success in 3rd annual event
MACOMB, IL -- Quincy's Symphony of Trees event isn't the only place you can view decorated trees this weekend. McDonough District Hospital in Macomb hosted its 3rd annual Festival of Trees.
The event kicked off Friday night. Onlookers enjoyed trees with different themes, from teddy bears, to the nutcracker, the rainforest and angels. Money raised from the event this year will help pay for a new ambulance at the hospital.
MDH has raised about $50,000 in the past two years. Coordinator of the event, Vicky Wallen says this event is not about the money. She says this festival brings out something unique.
"I've found that we have so many talented people in our community. They're very supportive of McDonough District Hospital, and we really appreciate everything they do.We have some very beautiful trees, they're all uniquely themed," Wallen said.
The Festival continues Sunday, December 7th at the Western Illinois Museum from noon to 5pm.
Also on Monday, December 8th, from 9am to 3pm.
Sunday, Betty Lou Who and the Grinch from Whooville as well as father Christmas and a live reindeer will make an appearance from 2 to 4pm.
