KEOKUK, IA -- The Keokuk National Cemetery grounds crew spent the day preparing for a simultaneous nationwide event.

All national cemeteries will take part in the Wreaths Across America program at the same time tomorrow morning.

That's 11:00 our time.

American Legion and VFW participants will honor veterans by laying a wreath to represent each branch of the military and another for prisoners of war and those missing in action.

Each location will have "Taps" played along with a rifle salute in memory of fallen soldiers.

"I think it's great because this is the first time something like this has occurred in the national cemetery," Sean Baumgartner, Director of the Rock Island national Cemetery Complex said. "I think its fitting to remember our veterans especially during this holiday season."

A wreath company in Maine donated all the wreaths that will be used in tomorrow's ceremonies.
