MCDONOUGH COUNTY, IL -- Damage from a winter ice storm was more severe in Hancock and McDonough Counties.
Downed trees in the Macomb area led to power outages for both Ameren- and McDonough County Electric Cooperative customers.
According to the Ameren's Web site, about 24-hundred out of the two counties' more than 19-thousand customers were still without power as of 7:45 p.m. on Friday.
According to a news release sent to KHQA, power companies working in McDonough County are not going to get all power back on throughout the county. That means residents without power should make plans now for shelter.
If you know of someone who doesn't have power, here are some important notes.
A warming shelter is set up at Olson Hall, located at Adams Street and Western Avenue in Macomb. Staff asks that anyone needing shelter at Olson Hall to be there by midnight.
Those who need shelter in Bushnell can head to the Municipal Complex/Police Station on Ludwig Street.
McDonough County's Sheriff urges residents to contact a family member or friend who has power, to make provisions for Friday night. Residents who need shelter overnight, or may need a ride to a shelter, should call the sheriff's office at 309-833-2323.
Residents also are asked to check on neighbors.
