Younge represented East St. Louis since 1975
(AP) -- One of the longest-serving current members of the Illinois House has died.
78-year-old Wyvetter Younge was taken to the hospital with a bleeding artery earlier this month. She died Friday night from complications during surgery. Younge was born in St. Louis. She represented East St. Louis as a Democrat since 1975.
Her children remember that she drove 90 minutes each way to Springfield every day so she could see them day and night.
