KNOX CITY, MO. (AP) -- The National Transportation Safety Board says a loss of engine power is the probable cause of a 2007 plane crash in northeast Missouri that killed two Minnesotans.
The NTSB report released Sunday says unsuitable terrain encountered during landing was a contributing factor.
The crash near Knox City, Mo., killed 64-year-old pilot Gene Underland, of Spicer, and 50-year-old Kimberly Woltjer, of Pennock.
Woltjer's husband, Rick, was injured.
The plane was an amateur-built Bird Seawind 3000.
The report says the plane was so badly damaged by the crash and fire that there was little physical evidence for investigators. It's not clear why the engine lost power.
