Memory of child celebrated through giving

QUINCY -- A young girl's life is celebrated by helping others. Samantha Otte's parents established a fund with the Community Foundation.  They provide opportunities and access to children of the community.  In Samantha's memory, a grant totaling a little more than  $15,000 was presented to several organizations to touch hundreds of area children.

"Samantha's love of life, she had a lot of things against her, but she was always full of spirit and enjoyed life to the fullest in her 10 years and so after she passed away, we really hoped we can provide this for other children," said June Otte, Samantha's mother.

Grants were awarded to the Adams County Red Cross, Big Brothers Big Sisters, Camp Callahan, Girl Scout of Two Rivers Council, and Quincy Symphony Orchestra to name a few .  Samantha suffered from cystic fibrosis.  She died at the age of 10 after a liver transplant, her birthday is on January 6.
