Grants now available for last month's storm

QUINCY IL -- There is relief in sight for thousands of folks in Illinois who were victims of last month's snow storm.  After the storm, Gov. Rod Blagojevich declared 26 of the state's counties a disaster area.  Those affected can now apply for state and federal emergency funds.

"Funds won't help pay for damage to home. It's more for costs of snow removal., sanding, lodging, or anything to do with the snow emergency itself ," FEMA Coordinator Michael Smith said.

You're eligible to apply for FEMA grants in Illinois if you live in the following counties:

  • Adams
  • Boone
  • Brown
  • Bureau
  • DeKalb
  • Fulton
  • Hancock
  • Henry
  • Kendall
  • Knox
  • LaSalle
  • Lee
  • Marshall
  • Mason
  • McDonough
  • McHenry
  • Menard
  • Ogle
  • Peoria
  • Pike
  • Putnam
  • Scott
  • Stark
  • Stephenson
  • Tazewell
  • Winnebago

If you are eligible, you can get an application by calling 217-782-8719.  Applications must be turned in no later than Jan. 29.  Use disaster number 3269 on your application.
