About water release from Mark Twain Lake
NEW LONDON, MO -- You'll remember last summer, there was flooding in Ralls County because Mark Twain Lake was too high, and crews had to release water through the Clarence Cannon Dam.
The U-S Army Corps of Engineers has hosted three meetings to get input on updating the Mark Twain Lake Water Control Manual.
One was held Thursday at the Lions Club in New London.
Officials were meeting in larger groups, or one on one.
"The public's input is very important. These are the folks who live here. They observe it day to day. They are the experts as to what that water's doing. They know if their crops are being affected or their homes are in jeopardy or roads are underwater. There's no one better to ask," says Sandra Spence, Operations Manager for Mark Twain Lake.
Once all the input is gathered, hopes are to have a rough draft of any potential changes available for the public to look at later this spring.
