KEOKUK, IOWA -- The City of Keokuk is set to receive $2 million.

The Economic Development Administration awarded the city a $2 million grant to improve the Water Treatment Plant.

The funding is expected to create 44 new jobs, retain 445 jobs, and secure $30 million in private investment.

The money will pay for construction of a new 2 million gallon elevated storage facility to update the water distribution system and create additional water storage.

Infrastructure updates will enable further business expansion and help attract new industries.

The water treatment plant is located between the Mississippi River and 345 million-year-old limestone bluffs.
