Jewelry from the 2008 Red Kettle Campaign will be auctioned off
KEOKUK, IA -- The Keokuk Salvation Army hopes a silent auction will help it reach its 2008 Christmas Red Kettle Campaign goal.
It raised about $85,000 which was short of the $92,000 goal.
A silent auction is being held to auction off the 20 pieces of jewelry donated during the campaign.
The jewelry is currently on display in Fort Madison and will be in Keokuk February 2nd through 6th.
Final bids will take place at an open house in February.
KHQA spoke with Office Manager Susan Leaf about the auction.
"Any money that's raised will be used to help complete our Christmas goal which was $92,000," said Leaf. "As of this date we have raised $85,000. We are still accepting donations toward that goal. Most people don't realize that money isn't just for Christmas. That helps all our operating expenses throught the year."
That money will cover services such as utilities, food, prescriptions, emergency transportation and some medical assistance.
The final bids will take place February 7th from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m.
