SPRINGFIELD, ILL. (AP) -- The Senate impeachment trial of Gov. Rod Blagojevich is set to continue Wednesday.
The senators weighing Blagojevich's political fate have already listened to the governor's own voice captured on a secret recording. And they've heard an FBI agent testify that government wiretaps caught statements pointing to one corrupt scheme after another.
Now they'll hear accusations that Blagojevich unconstitutionally defied the Legislature, evaded state hiring laws and wasted tax dollars - issues that are decidedly less sensational than the federal corruption charges against the Democratic governor.
The governor was arrested last month on a variety of corruption charges, including scheming to benefit from appointing President Barack Obama's U.S. Senate replacement.
