Police responding to a report of arguing Tuesday evening found the door to the house nailed shut.
A woman was able to escape from the house but officers wereunable to make contact with a man who was still inside.
Police say they found that 31-year-old Johnathan Harris had barricaded himself and the children in an upstairs bedroom.
Police say Harris plunged a sword through the door at the officers.
A negotiator talked Harris out of the room about 2:30 a.m. Wednesday. He was charged with three counts of assault on police officer, four counts of child endangerment and violation of a no-contact order.
