Organization plans to be proactive for future events
HANNIBAL, MO -- Last weekend's Wing Ding benefit at the Admiral Coontz Armory in Hannibal resulted in some not so friendly behavior.
We found out that Hannibal Police handed out a dozen tickets for indecent exposure, and one ticket for a D.W.I during the event. We heard that there were a lack of bathrooms available.
Hannibal Police Chief Lyndell Davis says whether that was a factor or not, he believes it was a combination of alcohol and lack of common sense that led to last weekend's events.
The Hannibal Police Department along with the Hannibal Jaycees and Parks and Recreation are working together to be proactive for future events.
"Our whole goal here is to get a handle on these things early on, nip that kind of behavior in the bud early so later on, that kind of behavior doesn't manifest itself into worse offenses," Chief Davis said.
We also spoke to Hannibal Jaycees Board Chairman Kevin Knickerbocker. He told us the Jaycees will add extra security at future events, as well as extra restroom facilities. He also told us, those areas that contain those facilities will be fenced off to keep people from engaging in any inappropriate behavior.
