FT. MADISON, IA -- KHQA spoke with Mayor Ireland about the Fort Madison bypass project.

He said the construction is still going as planned.

He is expecting a lot of construction during 2010 with completion set for 2011.

Ireland told KHQA an interchange between West Point and Fort Madison was left out of the plans and he is part of a group trying to fit it back in.

The group has raised most of the $5 million needed for that project except about $1.2 million.

Ireland says the city has put in a request for about $1 million in federal funds, which he believes it will receive.
