HANNIBAL, MO -- The Hannibal Cavemen are one step closer to hitting the field for its first game of the season.
Monday, officials will hold an official lighting ceremony at Clemons Field as they flip the switch on their new ballpark lights for the first time.
The public is invited to attend the event February 9 at 5p.m.
After the ceremony folks are also invited to check out all the other renovations at the ballpark and clubhouse.
Light food and refreshments will be available inside the clubhouse after the ceremony. The open house of sorts will run from 5p.m. to 7:30p.m.
The first game for the Hannibal Cavemen baseball team is set for June 4.
When completed, the Clemons Field stadium will have 2,500 seats, with the capability of adding a few hundred more if necessary.
Owner Larry Owens tells us about 40% of the tickets have already been sold and is expecting to sell out most games, especially games against the Quincy Gems.
