COLUMBUS, ILL. -- We have another scam going around the Tri-State area.

This one involves someone asking you to update your Medicare over the phone.

Here's what we found out so you can protect yourself.

Medicare never makes phone calls.  They always contact customers through the mail.

Tom Liesen is the Elders Service Officer at the Quincy Senior Center he says the elderly need to be more aggressive.

They need to say they are not interested and just simply hang up the phone.

No matter what, never give your personal information over the phone.

More scams have shown up over the last several years and the elderly seem to be the main target.
