Final two suspects captured and arrested
SCOTLAND COUNTY, MO -- An all-day manhunt comes to a safe end with the capture of three suspects.
The final two were arrested just before 6 p.m. tonight in a field in Northeast Scotland County.
In custody are 35-year-old Kenneth Thompson of Kirksville, and two Memphis residents, 23-year-old Christopher Armstrong and 27-year-old Michelle Brand.
According to the Scotland County Sheriff's Department, Thompson and Armstrong are both accused of violating their probation.
Armstrong was also wanted on a felony drug-related warrant.
It started Thursday morning when a car was reported stolen from Queen City.
A deputy later spotted a maroon Ford Escort north of Memphis and began a chase.
Authorities report that the suspects fired shots at a deputy.
Just before 9 a.m., the chase crossed the state line into Van Buren County where Iowa officers took over.
The Iowa State Patrol says a short time later, the car crossed back into Missouri where authorities then lost sight of the car.
It was eventually discovered stuck in the mud in a farm field.
A short time later, Thompson was found not too far from the car.
Armstrong and Brand remained on the loose all afternoon.
They were captured after a resident spotted the two walking not too far off of Route P.
