Conversion now will take place in June
KHQA-TV President/CEO Carol Kellum has announced KHQA will delay its digital transition.
The FCC denied KHQA's request to transition to digital on Feb. 17, 2009.
KHQA will comply with the FCC's ruling and continue with plans to transition after June 12, 2009.
Less than one percent of Tri-State residents currently are not ready for the digital transition.
"We hope that viewers take this time to get everything they need for the transition in June," said KHQA President/CEO Carol Kellum. "Now viewers won't feel rushed to change and can examine the market for the equipment that best suits their needs."
KHQA has been broadcasting both analog and digital signals for several months.
Both signals will continue to be broadcast until the analog signal is shut off on June 12, 2009.
Opportunities to test television sets for digital readiness will follow in the coming months.
