(Quincy, IL) The February Triad meeting was held at the Quincy Senior Center Tuesday, February 17th.

The meeting featured a discussion on radon gas.

The discussion included information on testing for radon gas and solving the problem if your home tests positive.

Owner of Midstate Inspection Services, Bruce Hutton says the midwest has begun to see an increased level of radon gas.

Nearly 60% of homes are testing positive for radon.

Radon gas is the #1 cause of lung cancer among non-smokers.

"Radon is a life safety issue," said Hutton.  "It's very important to test the house and make sure you're making for a safer, healthier environment to live in."

Hutton said if you hire somebody to test your home or to fix your radon problem, make sure to check if they are state licensed.

This way you can be sure the job is done correctly.
