DES MOINES, Iowa (AP) - An Iowa House committee is considering a measure that would let voters recall local elected officials.
The issue was prompted by a controversy in Linn County regarding salary for the county board.
Under the measure approved by a legislative subcommittee, those seeking to put a recall vote on the ballot would need to collect signatures representing 20 percent of the voters in the previous general election.
The proposal's main backer is House Minority Leader Kraig Paulsen of Hiawatha.
