Meeting in Audrain County Mo reveals farmers could lose plenty

MARTINSBURG, MO -- An Audrain County, Missouri trucking company and grain elevator under scrutiny for over more than $1.3 million owed to farmers now faces a state criminal investigation.

Attorney General Chris Koster says he is investigating the finances of T.J. Gieseker Farms and Trucking. State regulators took control of the company's assets after an audit revealed possible financial irregularities.

An estimated 300 farmers attended a meeting Wednesday with state officials to discuss the failed business. A Missouri Department of Agriculture official said that most can expect to recover only a fraction of their lost earnings.

Farmers and others with unpaid claims can call (573) 751-4112 for information on filing a claim.
