(AP) -- HANNIBAL, Mo. - Sen. Claire McCaskill will be the keynote speaker at Hannibal's Democrat Days this weekend.
Missouri's junior senator will speak Saturday night at the Quality Inn & Suites in the northeast Missouri town. Gov. Jay Nixon will speak at the Saturday brunch.
Also scheduled to speak during the annual gathering will be Missouri Secretary of State Robin Carnahan, who has announced she will run for the U.S. Senate seat being vacated when Republican Kit Bond retires at the end of his term.
The Missouri Democrats figure to have plenty to celebrate after the election of a Democratic president and governor. But one of the organizers, John Yancey, says the focus should be on the next elections in 2010.
