New promoters hired to manage track
Go Kart racing has been going on in West Quincy for some time, but hopes are now to bring some bigger races to the area.
TNT Kartways has three new promoters who have some great ideas for the track and its future.
On this chilly, winter day, TNT Kartways sits empty. But in a few weeks, the weather won't be the other thing warming up, so will this track.
"We're going to get races in here. We have a regional race coming here in June. Our 14 local events we have to take care of," says Will Logsdon, one of the new promoters.
The Traeder family still owns the track, but Logsdon and the two other promoters will take care of it.
"We'll take care of the maintenance on the track, get the concession stand up and going," says Logsdon.
The track already hosts bi-weekly races of mostly local racers. But in June, it's set to host the Central State Super Series, which is a touring race in the Midwest. Logsdon hopes to get even more races like that to TNT Kartways. Logsdon says he wants to bring the popularity of karting back to this area, especially because it can be a family friendly sport.
"A son or daughter can race, and the dad can turn the wrenches. Mom can take down notes. Other kids can help push karts around," says Logsdon.
And something new that's getting added to the track is called the Arrive and Drive program.
"After the race is over, you can pay for a pit pas and get in a kart and drive to see what you think," says Logson.
