Delegates return from Des Moines
(Keokuk, IA)
More than 70 members of the Southeast Iowa Delegation are back from Great River Region Days in Des Moines.
And the feeling is good.
KHQA spoke with the Executive Director of the Keokuk Area Chamber of Commerce, Katie O'Brien, Friday.
She says the two days they spent in the state capital were well worth it.
O'Brien says she feels going up as a region really benefits the area, instead of going up as separate cities.
One of the highlights this year was the meeting the group had with the director of the Department of Transportation.
They talked a lot about how the economic stimulus package will benefit the Hawkeye state.
"Iowa is getting $360 million. We heard good news about the Fort Madison bypass. That project is being funded and continues to move forward," says O'Brien.
O'Brien also says the group had a good discussion with Lieutenant Governor Patty Judge.
The Southeast Iowa delegation mentioned some priorities the region has.
Hopes are as the federal money starts trickling down, Southeast Iowa get some of it.
