Evacuation lifted beginning Wednesday
LEWISTOWN, MO -- Some Lewistown, Mo., residents will be allowed to return home Wednesday morning.
All residents living north of Highway 6, north and south Pine Street, in the 100 block of South Vine North, North and South Maple Street andLaGrange Street from Oak to Vinecan go back.
If you live in those areas, you need to report to the Lewis County fairgrounds promptly at 9 a.m.
You should bring a key to your home--and be prepared to wait. This could take a while. If you get there late, you'll be pushed to the bottom of the list.
Utility crews will be working with each homeowner to make sure their home is safe before utilities are turned back on.
Residents of the south part of town should stay tuned to KHQA throughout the day Wednesday for further updates.
Some residents were allowed to go back to their homes Tuesday night.
Emergency officials allowed folks to return to pick up pets or medications they had to leave behind.
If you need a place to take your pets, the Humane Society of Missouri has set up its animal rescue trailer in the parking lot of the sheriff's department in Monticello.
The heated trailer can provide food, water, and shelter for up to 100 animals.
A five-person team from the Humane Society will be assisting with pet rescue efforts.
