(AP) -- CHICAGO - The Internal Revenue Service says it has more than $53 million in unclaimed refunds for Illinois residents who
didn't file 2005 tax returns.
More than 50,000 Illinois residents have refunds due them from the 2005 filing season.
They have until April 15 of this year to catch up by filing their 2005 tax returns. After that, the money goes to the U.S. Treasury.
More than 1 million Americans have unclaimed refunds of about $1.3 billion for unfiled 2005 taxes.
