Just down the river in Hannibal, the city is gearing up to put the flood gates in.

The river looks nice and calm now, but in the next few days, it's set to go five feet above flood stage.

The current prediction has a crest of 21.6 feet happening Friday, the 13th.

KHQA spoke with Marion County Emergency Management Director, John Hark, today.

He says this year he hopes luck is on his side.

"As it stands right now, we're at that close call area. Approximately 21.3 feet, water starts across the sill elevation of Broadway. We will be in lockdown with thsoe also if we're looking at a 21.6, "says Hark.

Hark says he has a contractor on standby to put the flood gates in at Center and Hill Streets Tuesday or Wednesday morning at the latest.
