Water is flooding riverfront
CANTON, MO -- The city of LaGrange, Missouri is watching the river closely
By Wednesday water could be over the road on Highway 61 B, right by the casino.
Water is also likely to cross the road just north of the sewer plant, but operations will remain running.
The city has 40,000 sandbags at the public works department if needed for residents and businesses.
Mark Campbell, LaGrange City Administer seems optimistic right now, but continues to check on local businesses along the riverfront that opened up shop again.
Canton is also preparing for the water to rise in the next couple of days
Road gates on Route B where put Tuesday, closing the road just north of the city.
When water starts to rise to 17 1/2 feet with a 20 foot crest, gates have to be put in.
The 200 piece gate takes about four hours to install and will remain in place until the water goes down.
Some minor flooding is already occuring along the riverfront by the R V park and is expected to rise to the railroad tracks by Thursday.
