Things looking better
(Adams Co., IL)
Things are looking a bit better in northern Adams County.
KHQA checked the situation of the Lima Lake and Indian Graves Levee Districts late Tuesday afternoon.
Crews are wrapping up work on the levee next to the grain elevator in Meyer.
John Simon, the Emergency Management Director for Adams County, tells KHQA levee district officials are comfortable with the height and strength of the levee.
A little different situation down the road for Indian Graves.
Simon says there is a chance the three holes won't be fixed in time for the projected river level at the end of the week.
Still, crews are still hard at work.
"Contractors made great progress through the night. Bulldozers were working through the night. Levee District officials tell me they are more optomistic today than yesterday," says John Simon.
Simon also says the situation could change day to day based on the weather.
Work also continues on the pump houses in the district.
They are not set to be up and running until summer.
