DES MOINES, Iowa (AP) - U.S. Sen. Tom Harkin says he will recommend a lawyer and a federal prosecutor as Iowa's next U.S. attorneys.

Harkin says he will recommend Nick Klinefeldt to the post in Iowa's Southern District based in Des Moines and Stephanie Rose in Iowa's Northern District in Cedar Rapids.

President Barack Obama is expected to nominate them as successors to U.S. attorneys Matt Whitaker and Matt Dummermuth. Klinefeldt is a lawyer from West Des Moines who has done criminal defense work and handled court-appointed cases in U.S. District Court.

Rose is from Center Point and has served as an assistant U.S attorney for 11 years. She would be the first woman chief federal prosecutor in Iowa in 30 years.
